Born on 17 th of September in 1928, Roderick Andrew Anthony Jude "Roddy" McDowall was a photographer and an actor. Roddy was born to Thomas Andrew McDowall and Winsfriede L in Herne Hill in London.His mother was of Irish descent and an aspiring actress. His father was a Marine officer.His parents were equally interested in theater. McDowall featured in numerous British films.He relocated to United States with his family due to the Blitz. He made his debut film appearance in a credited role in 1941s How Green Was My Valley. At this time ,he was only 12 years old.He earned household popularity with this role.He was casted in 1943s Lassie Come Home opposite to Elizabeth Taylor.He played the character of Ken McLaughlin in the film of 1943 titled “My friend Flicka”.In the TV adaptation of , My Friend Flicka,the role of McDowall was played by Johnny Washbrook in 1956.His other film credits include 1944s The Keys of the Kingdom and 1944s The White Cliffs of Dover.McDowall was very successful as a child actor as well as an adult artist.He earned more popularity with the character roles such as of chimpanzee characters in the Planet of the Apes and its sequels made between 1968 and 1973 and also in the following TV series in 1974.His other film roles include 1963s Cleopatra where he potrayed the role of Octavian, 1972s The Poseidon Adventure as Acres and 1985s Fright Night as Peter Vincent.
